As the CEO of Block Gemini, Chris takes an active role in guiding innovation and strategy within the organization, and has established partnerships with several multi-billion-dollar global enterprises to support their digital transformation efforts. Besides being a successful entrepreneur, Chris is a true virtuoso in network engineering with extensive experience in planning, implementing, configuring and testing IT systems, and uses his expertise to find and nurture technologists at Block Gemini.
Alvaro Abella
Managing Director @Gulf Capital
Alvaro is an Executive Director in the Private Equity team with Gulf Capital, a leading alternative asset management company focusing primarily on late-stage control buy-outs, growth capital, real estate development and private debt business. With over twenty years of experience across Europe and the MENA region and with a strong focus on TMT investments, Alvaro has worked across transaction execution, post-acquisition management and advisory roles. Before Gulf Capital, he co-founded BECO Holdings, Dubai-based early-stage investment firm focused on digital businesses in the MENA region, such as Careem, PropertyFinder and SellAnyCar. Alvaro has also held previous positions with consulting firms such as Diamond Cluster International, Dubai, Value Partners SpA., Italy and Booz Allen & Hamilton, Europe. Alvaro has a Master in Business Administration from MIT Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts, USA.
Nabil Ismail
Executive Director @Gulf Capital
Nabil Ismail is an Executive Director –Private Equity at Gulf Capital PJSC. He has been with Gulf Capital since 2014. He focuses on and manages investments in the tech & fintech space with keen interest on expanding their presence from the GCC across North Africa and South East Asia. He worked previously with TECOM Investments where he was involved in real estate investments, corporate finance, building incubation program, and divestments of assets and companies. Prior to that, he was at the Executive Office in Dubai.
Richard Thompson

Richard joined MEED in 2003 as managing Editor. He was became MEED editor in 2007 and was appointed to his current position in 2010. As Editorial Director of MEED, Richard has had responsibility for managing offices in India as well as the editorial teams in the UK and the UAE. Prior to joining MEED, Richard working in the UK business media at Construction News and New Civil Engineer magazines, both owned by MEED’s owner Emap. Prior to joining Emap, Richard working in the UK coivil engineering and construction industry with Laing O’Rourke, Trafalgar House Major Projects and Atkins.
